NLPA Announcements

Dear Colegas:

After about a year of discussion, planning and work, Los Niños Services (LNS), in collaboration with NLPA, has designed a database of resources relating to Latina(o) psychology. This database was designed so that seekers can easily find resources specific to Latina(o) psychology through the NLPA website. It was inspired by the tremendous resources shared on the listserv and the dismay of some (like Scott), that these wonderful resources were not being captured in a way that would be easily searchable and accessible to members who later join NLPA and to all members. NLPA and LNS have worked hard to design the database of resources to be very simple to use, and we hope useful. Although we have put a lot of time and thought into the design, of course we would like feedback from users on their experiences with the database.

Click on to “Resources”.
To use the database, you can either SEARCH, ADD, or EDIT a resource.
To SEARCH for a resource, use either method 1, 2, or 3 on the search page.
To ADD a resource, press the add button and enter the info.
To EDIT a resource, simply search for the resource. At the bottom of every resource is a space to enter any updates or corrections for submission.

This database is MANAGED. NLPA will form a committee to oversee the database. In the meantime, Azara Santiago-Rivera will temporarily serve as the ADMINISTRATOR who will review submissions and edits. It is important to maintain the integrity of the database since it is hosted through the NLPA site and open to the public. Therefore, the administrator (and committee members) will approve or deny submissions to the database. The database is provided free to NLPA from Los Niños for the Latino community. NLPA will form a committee to oversee the database

We hope you find it useful. Feel free to identify any issues/problems/needs with the database. However, please also make suggestions on solutions to any issues you may identify. Since NLPA membership is now over 400, this would mean that for each member who enters a resource we would have that number in just one entry!
