Psychiatry Online published a study on the “Downward National Trends in Mental Health Treatment Offered in Spanish: State Differences by Proportion of Hispanic Residents”. 

The objective of the study was to “determine how the prevalence of mental health treatment facilities that offer services in Spanish has changed over time in the United States.” 

The study measured data collected during 2014-2019 from the National Mental Health Society

Although the Latinx population continues to increase in the U.S., mental health services in Spanish have decreased over the past few years. The study gives some important information about this downward trend. This reinforces the importance of increasing clinical training in Spanish to better serve our communities.
